Gaia's Bio

Gaia Masetti is an energetic Italian cyclist who joined AG Insurance - Soudal Quick-Step in 2022. When you say Gaia, you say cycling. Over the years it became her greatest passion. In the period from 2018 to 2019 she was part of Team Wilier Breganze, then in 2020 she signed a contract with Top Girls Fassa Bortolo where she cycled for a period of two years. From 2023, she will belong to the elite team of AG Insurance - Soudal Quick-Step.

“I started cycling when I was six years old. My father was a cyclist himself and he wanted to teach me at a young age. To be honest I was not that interested in cycling, because I thought it was something for boys. Nevertheless I decided to give it a try and immediately won the first race I did. When they handed me the flowers and I never stopped cycling."

Cycling means everything to Gaia, so she is focused 100% on her goals. For example, after her school period, graduated as a quality consultant, she decided to go all out to become a professional cyclist. What she thought was a sport dominated only by men, became her life. Gaia cannot imagine her life without her bike, that is why she wants to make the most of it and show what she has to offer.

Gaia portrays herself as an all-rounder. "On climbs of maximum four kilometers I can hold my own very well, I can also say that I am quite fast, which means that I can mean something in a sprint of 20 - 25 riders. Moreover, I also hold my position well on the flat, although I must admit that I am less of a time trial fan.

I would love to return to the Tour de France Femmes after my crash last year. I also want to gain as much experience as possible in the northern races, but also in the other races and all this together with the riders of my team. In fact, I want to become as good as possible. For that I train hard on the beautiful roads in our region. You will find both flat roads and hills here. Although I must also confess that I love the sun in the south of Spain.”
