Julia's Bio

Julia is a 21-year-old cyclist from Sweden. In 2020 she made the switch from the Rytger Development Cycling team to the Dutch AG Insurance - NXTG development team, which typifies her as one of the most experienced riders on the team. From 2023 she will position herself together with several other riders from the development team within the elite team AG Insurance - Soudal Quick-Step.

As a first-year junior she won two national titles, both the road race and the time trial. She also beat the best juniors of the world in the Watersley Ladies Challenge. Julia is a versatile rider who does well in climbing races but also loves the cobbles. Her 14th place in the most recent edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad shows her potential.

“Me and my best friend at the time joined a youth training day at our local cycle club because her parents were riding in that club and that's how it started. As a junior I did quite a lot of racing in Belgium and the Netherlands and I was amazed of how many girls were riding here. I realized that this is the center of cycling (especially for women) and I wanted to be a part of that, close to the races.

At the moment I'm still trying to figure out what type of rider I am. I love racing and have fallen in love with a lot of races since I became an elite but I can't choose one favorite yet.

The spring classics are crazy. It's fun to watch on TV, it's a party to watch onsite but it's even better racing the race yourself. I am glad I get to do that!

I have learnt a lot the last couple of years with NXTG and I'm still learning something every race. Especially now with Jolien on the radio during races it would be hard trying not to learn something during the race.”
