Ella sprints to second place

On the streets of Plouay, Ella Heremans took a solid runner-up at the Classic Lorient Agglomeration - Ceratizit Trophy, after completing 13 laps, each 6.3 kilometers in length and featuring more than 1200 vertical meters.

Earlier this year, Ella secured a second place finish in the road race at the Junior Belgian National Championship. Alongside Ella, also our Czech rider Nela Kankovska finished in the top ten, clinching in fifth place.

Satisfied sports director Christian Kos told us after the race: “Despite starting with just four riders, they collectively put up a strong performance. A leading group of four riders quickly emerged, with Ella positioned well and making a strong impression.”

“In the final lap, Ella attempted to break away. The leading group did split, but they eventually regrouped later in the race. Subsequently, the focus shifted to the sprint, where English rider Lloyd Carys proved to be the strongest. In summary, a splendid second place for Ella and an impressive fifth place for Nela, who had previously rode away from the peloton and finished between the leading group and the peloton.”

Ella added: “I don't think there was much more to give. Towards the end, we rode away with and we did make an attempt, but unfortunately, it didn't work out. It was only in the last lap that I truly felt a podium spot could be within reach, but I didn't want to be overly confident and kept pushing hard until the finish. In the sprint at the end, Carys Lloyd had a significant lead, so a victory was not in the cards, but I am definitely pleased with my second place.”
