Lore and Ella carried the keys for Belgian Gold

On a challenging course consisting of five laps around and over the demanding Col du VAM, the road race for the European Junior Women's Championships took place on Sunday morning. The race started in Drijber and covered a total of 69 kilometers. Five talented riders from AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step represented their respective countries in this road race: Ella Heremans, Lore de Schepper, Laia Bosch Ballus, Nela Kankovska, and Fee Knaven. However, it was Fleur Moors who took a splendid victory and secured the gold medal for Belgium, with AG Insurance - Soudal Quick-Step riders Ella Heremans and Lore de Schepper playing a crucial role in this impressive success.
Lore De Schepper, one of the key figures in this victory, shared her experiences: "In the early stages of the race, it was challenging to stay at the front and move up; the pace was not particularly high, except on the VAM hill. From the third lap onwards, positioning became much easier. I launched an attack in the penultimate lap but couldn't maintain it due to a strong Italian presence. In the final lap, Fleur asked me to keep her well-placed at the front, so she would be in a good position for the first corner before the VAM hill. We had agreed beforehand that we would do everything for Fleur if she felt good. I gladly took on this role and took responsibility for the entire final lap to lead her from the front, ensuring she could approach the hill in a good position. This left me completely exhausted at the foot of the climb, but it worked out reasonably well. Fleur completed the work and secured the title nicely. Surprisingly, I managed to hold my ground and finished ninth."
Ella Heremans added: "It was an amazing experience to secure the victory! There was never a significant selection; it was always calm on the sections around the VAM hill. On the VAM hill itself, a good pace was maintained. I look back on this European Championship with great satisfaction. We gave our all with the Belgian team, and Fleur brought home the win, which is magnificent!"
