Maureen's Bio
Maureen is also a rider from our own development structure who is now moving on to the U23 via the junior team. She dreams of the Amstel Gold Race and is already looking forward to the first Tour de l'Avenir for U23 riders.
“I was very young when I started cycling. Then I joined my father on my bike when he went for a run,” says Maureen. “I got my first road bike when I was seven and I did my first race two years later. I love being outside and cycling also allows me to see the most beautiful places.”
Maureen loves the mountains. She remembers seeing Chris Froome once win the Tour de France by climbing Mont Ventoux in quite memorable fashion.
“Since then, she knows that I also want to become a professional cyclist. Fortunately, we now also have a Tour de France so hopefully I can ride it one day. I think as a rider I am very all-round. I like climbing but also cobblestones. Bad weather doesn’t bother me at all. I hope to win a stage or even the classification in the Tour de France or Giro one day and, just like my example Chantal van den Broek-Blaak, become world champion.”
